Our Mission

Developing teachers. Strengthening education. Connecting China and the United Kingdom.

Our mission is to support teachers throughout their professional lives and to strengthen the educational relationship between China and the United Kingdom — grounded in evidence, sustained over time, and held in public trust.

Statement of purpose

SinoUK ITDC exists to nurture great teaching, to build bridges between educational systems, and to open internationally recognised professional pathways for teachers working in China and the wider region.

Guiding principles

Six principles that shape our work.

01

The teacher first

The quality of an education system cannot exceed the quality of its teachers. Every programme we run begins with that principle.

02

Evidence, not marketing

Our work is guided by research, classroom evidence and honest evaluation — never by promotional claims.

03

Mutual respect between traditions

British and Chinese education have distinct strengths. We hold both in equal regard and encourage genuine dialogue between them.

04

Long-term partnership

We favour sustained relationships over short engagements. Real change in schools takes years, not weeks.

05

Public purpose

As an educational body, we serve the profession and the students they teach — not commercial return.

06

Integrity in accreditation

Where we offer or support qualifications, they are held to the standards of the accrediting universities and awarding bodies.
